Driven by the surge in demand for artificial intelligence chips from Nvidia and Broadcom, as well as significant investments from Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, TSMC's revenue in 2024 increased by 33.9% year-on-year.
On January 10th, TSMC released its financial report showing that its revenue for December 2024 was approximately NT $278.163 billion, a monthly increase of 0.8% and an annual increase of 57.8%. The annual revenue for 2024 is approximately NT $2.894 trillion, an increase of 33.9%.
It is reported that TSMC is affiliated with Nvidia, Broadcom AMD、 Market leaders such as Amazon and Google produce the majority of global artificial intelligence computing chips. These companies also utilize TSMC's advanced chip packaging technology to integrate artificial intelligence processors with high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips to improve performance. TSMC also provides services to most leading chip developers, including Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek.
TSMC will hold its Q4 2024 briefing on January 16, and analysts believe that there are four major areas worth paying attention to at the briefing. Firstly, the establishment progress and revenue of CoWoS advanced packaging capacity are expected to provide insight into TSMC's expectations for the strength of AI chip demand in the next 12-18 months. Secondly, there is progress in increasing production at wafer fabs in Arizona, USA, which is key to meeting the chip production needs of customers such as Apple and Nvidia in the United States. The third is the potential profit pressure brought by the weakened demand for mature process nodes above 7nm and 16nm. Finally, TSMC's capital expenditure plan for 2025 will demonstrate its confidence in adopting the next generation 2nm process.
