South Korean display equipment company will delay delivery because of parts supply

Jun 28,2022

According to Korean media reports, the Korea Display Industry Association reported on June 27 that recently, Korean display equipment companies such as Zhouxing Engineering, Wonik IPS, and Sunic System were unable to deliver on time due to the inability to obtain parts, and similar situations continued to appear. Due to the global supply chain crisis, these companies are unable to source core components from overseas in a timely manner.

According to the survey, the average delivery time of core components of OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) equipment is delayed by more than 4.5 months. Previously, parts were available in 2 to 3 months after ordering, but now it takes up to 6 months at the earliest. Filters, which were normally delivered in 2.5 months, are now being received after 1 year, resulting in an 8.5-month delay in completing the purchase.

The display industry plays an important role in South Korea, with Korean display makers accounting for 33.2 percent of the global market last year, according to the Korea Display Industry Association.

In addition, in April of this year, the Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) took the lead in including the display industry as a support object of the "National High-tech Strategic Industry Competitiveness Enhancement and Cultivation Special Measures Law" (National Advanced Strategic Industry Special Law).
