ON Semiconductor Completes New Hampshire Silicon Carbide Plant

Aug 12,2022

On August 11, US time, ON Semiconductor's silicon carbide (SiC) plant in Hudson, New Hampshire was inaugurated.

It is reported that the base will increase ON Semiconductor’s SiC wafer production capacity by five times year-on-year by the end of 2022. This expansion gives ON Semiconductor full control of the SiC manufacturing supply chain, including the procurement of SiC powder and graphite raw materials, and the delivery of packaged SiC devices.

Simon Keeton, executive vice president and general manager of ON Semiconductor's Power Solutions Division, said, "In order to achieve the growth of substrate capacity, we have expanded to a second building and plan to continue to upgrade to provide customers with SiC wafers.

ON Semiconductor's official Weibo pointed out that ON Semiconductor is the only large-scale supplier with dual-line end-to-end supply capabilities for SiC and insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) solutions. On its second-quarter earnings call last week, the company announced a commitment to $4 billion in SiC revenue over the next three years through long-term supply agreements with a broad customer base.
